Sinker bars, sometimes referred to as 'weight bars,' are designed to serve two purposes. They are the weight required to overcome forces created by well pressure and the size of cable used, and they are the mass required to deliver impacts when setting or pulling devices in the wellbore.
Baker Hughes sinker bars contain alloy steel, 303 stainless steel, PTFE, peek glass filled, and Viton. They may be made of steel, tungsten or lead.
Dispose in accordance with your regional regulations for these materials.
