Geomechanics studies how rock strength, pressure, and stress in the reservoir interact to affect multiple areas including production, drilling, and completions. Through activities and discussion, this course provides a fundamental understanding of principles of in-situ stress, rock mechanics, and measurement and determination of stress in inclined boreholes, and their application to various oilfield problems. Through 18 course activities, attendees apply their learning to geomechanical data analysis and problem solving. Real-world examples provide vivid illustrations of the value and impact of geomechanical modeling.
