Course Description

Wellbore images provide the capability to observe subtle geologic detail, enhancing understanding of the rock to improve completions and obtain maximum production. This course provides a comprehensive overview of imaging tools used to obtain wellbore images followed by discussion and activities for interpreting those images and identifying image artifacts.

Topics include:

  • The physics of imaging tools and data acquisition
  • Import and verification of all types of image data
  • Interpreting images for induced and natural features using geomechanical modeling
  • Identifying image artifacts as distinct from natural and induced features
