Often these areas will have body of existing data- logs, cores, production history - which has not been utilized recently to help improve rates and recovery. Or the data set may have been used to evaluate a single reservoir, while other reservoirs above and below were not evaluated. Baker Hughes Mature Field Revitalization Service utilizes the available data set to identify areas with higher remaining oil or gas, recommend artificial lift changes, and recommend adjusted field production practices that will boost rate and recovery.

Details

Many operators have logged a variety of different image logs, but have not utilized them to their full potential. Often they will have additional log data and cores, which have not been utilized recently to increase reservoir definition and completion optimization. Baker Hughes can support the client’s efforts with an image log based geological characterization.

A complete range of borehole image processing and interpretation services is available for both wireline and LWD images to provide solutions for geological uncertainty, whether dealing with clastic or carbonate environments, naturally fractured reservoirs, complex structural settings, or a high degree of sedimentological variability. Detailed quality control procedures are performed during loading, processing, and interpretation of borehole imaging data to ensure the highest possible data suitability and precision.

A manual picking point-to-point correlation technique is recommended to provide dip data that are as accurate as possible. This results in high confidence dip information, which derives from individual bed boundaries and fractures enabling detailed structural and depositional analyses. Baker Hughes has developed a dip picking scheme that is based on a hierarchical classification and can be used for any borehole image data.
