Tool Description
The LithoTrak service provides Azimuthal Sectored Density Images, as well as Photoelectric and Caliper measurements while drilling. Each data point is tied to a corresponding Caliper measurement to ensure accurate density evaluation with minimal stand-off effect. Caliper measurements are used also for neutron porosity borehole environmental compensation and give an accurate borehole profile for borehole volumes or wellbore stability applications.

LithoTrak service is delivered using downhole hardware consisting of: Caliper Corrected Neutron Sub, Optimized Rotational Density Sub, Slim-hole Density Neutron Sub and Caliper Measurements / Acoustic Stand - Off.

The Caliper Corrected Neutron tool is used to measure the hydrogen index of the formation or better known as, formation porosity. Since hydrogen atoms have the greatest “slowing – down” effect on emitted neutrons a radioactive source emits neutrons of energy (4.5 MeV), that interacts with fluid in the pore space of the formation.
